Flensburg,  DE   May 10, 2012

[prMac.com] Flensburg, Germany - Bostorm is pleased to announce the release of Team Cascai 1.0, a strategic action game for the iPad. The challenges of the game are not based on a large variety of units, but on intelligent usage of the possibilities at hand. Both timing and boldness is more important than creating endless streams of units. A groovy soundtrack accompanies the missions and was especially made for the game.

The game consists of three variants; Single player maps, single player power missions and multiplayer maps. The 10 single player maps start out easy and culminates in an epic level 10 finale. Each of the 13 power missions are created around special features. Winning a power mission will grant the player a special extra feature, which then can be activated before starting a new map. Various maps for playing 2, 3 and 4 players over Game Center are included. Maps for fast head-on games and also more complicated maps for longer playing sessions are found in the map collection.

In general anything on the map can and should be dragged around. The avatar is always the center of the view, so any action must be taken with your avatar exposed to the scene.

There are 3 other units besides the avatar. Energy pucks, towers and shredders.

Energy pucks deliver the energy for the avatar to create units and to fire its missile weapons. The player can join two pucks of the same kind to a new more energetic puck. There are 6 different energy pucks and the most energetic ones will also heal the avatar when collected.

Towers are the most dangerous units. The strongly armed towers fire tesla beam weapons on any enemy unit coming too close. Also, they upgrade to higher levels when having killed a given amount of foes. At the highest level towers will also fire missiles.

Shredders are fast rotating discs with very sharp edges. When the player creates a shredder, it will hunt down the closest enemy until defeated.

Some features are not explained in the tutorial of the game. The player will have to figure out how to activate them and will be rewarded by achievements in the Game Center.

Feature Highlights:
* 10 Single player mission ranging from easy to hard in difficulty
* 13 single player quest missions for gaining new powers
* 13 Multiplayer maps for 2, 3 and 4 players
* Realistic behavior of the objects collision and movement. The game uses a physics engine for this
* Based on cocos2d for iPhone, also using Box2D

Device Requirements:
* iPad
* Requires iOS 5.0 or later
* 30 MB

Rocket Scientist and Programmer Launch First Mobile Game - Cannon Cat

San Francisco, CA    Apr 26, 2012

[prMac.com] San Francisco, California - Loqheart, a two-man game studio, is testing whether the combination of a genius programmer and a rocket scientist can make a blockbuster mobile game. Their first mobile game, Cannon Cat, is a cute 2-D action-adventure game that follows a heroic cat flying through the sky from cannon to cannon, whose mission is to save all the flying fish from an Evil Emu. This epic story, easy one-tap gameplay, and 80+ levels are available now for free on the App Store for all iOS devices.

So why did this unlikely duo get together to make mobile games in the first place? When asked, David said, "I left rocket science surprisingly because it was too boring and lacked the creativity and innovation I got into engineering to pursue. Mobile games is much more exciting and allows me to explore far more parts of my brain."

It was at a Facebook game startup, that David met Don, a seasoned game developer, where they immediately connected on their passion for creating games. They soon quit their jobs and formed Loqheart, to create their own mobile games.

But you can tell from their first game, Cannon Cat, their science backgrounds haven't left them completely. Peppered with flying robots, portals, floating islands, and air cannons, Cannon Cat's world is clearly born from the minds of technology and science-fiction enthusiasts. And yet this game has all the cuteness and casual fun that will appeal to any fan of Angry Birds or Tiny Wings. With only one-tap to launch the cat, timing is everything in this game. It starts off easy enough but gets challenging for even a seasoned gamer.

When asked what inspired this wacky world of Cannon Cat, Don jokingly replied, "We actually created Cannon Cat in one week. The prototype at least. It was just a cat with a blue cape flying from one cannon to the next. People loved it. And from this simple prototype we crafted an entire world around it." David added, "And we wanted to surprise and break people's expectations. That's why in our world, fish can fly, islands float in mid-air, and cats save fish instead of eating them."

Games after all are a place where the impossible can happen and people can feel free to take risks. And it's no wonder a rocket scientist and game designer got together to take the ultimate risk, making it big with a cute little mobile game.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3.0 or later
* 17.5 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Cannon Cat 1.0.3 is Free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category.

Artgig Launches Three New Apps for Eoz Games

Pleasantville, NY    Apr 26, 2012

[prMac.com] Pleasantville, New York - Boutique interactive shop, Artgig Studio, may be best known in the App Store for their popular kids education apps, Alien Buddies and Shake-a-Phrase, but the core business of Artgig continues to be developers for hire. Artgig has announced the launch of a trio of universal apps: Roman Backgammon, Word Cracker and Ticker Quiz, for new company, eoz games.

Ticker Quiz is a handy pocket game to test your stock symbol knowledge. The app can be played two ways: by company name, or by ticker. The timed game can be played solo, or in head-to-head mode, and the top scores appear on the Game Center leader boards.

Word Cracker challenges you to solve words with only consonants showing, by sliding the vowels back where they belong in a timed solo or head-to-head game. The app offers three difficulty settings, and can be played with or without spaces (think hangman). The game also has a hints option when you need a clue. Like Ticker Quiz, Word Cracker top scores appear on the Game Center leaderboards.

Roman Backgammon unearths the roots of the classic Backgammon game to deliver a unique experience with slightly different rules and a custom game board and dice design to take you back in time. The game can be played in standard one or two player modes, or you can select an opponent from anywhere in the world using Game Center. Three levels of difficulty ensure a broad range of play, making it a good choice for first time players and children. iTunes integration even lets you select music from your own library.

Artgig President, Matthew Kicinski, ruminates over the speed of app development from the time Artgig first met with eoz games, "All three apps started as sketches on index cards and just a couple of months later, they're available for sale in the App Store and a new game company is born." Kicinski says "The apps might be bigger and shinier now, but the simplicity of the original concepts remains intact and that's what makes a good game. They haven't strayed too far from their 3 x 5 beginnings."

Artgig Studio is an award winning boutique interactive agency based in Westchester, NY. Artgig's key employees first met while working together at Sunburst Technology, then a division of Houghton Mifflin Interactive, developing and producing award winning educational tools and games for schools and children. In 2002, Matthew Kicinski launched Artgig with Steven Grosmark and Elisabeth Cherry. Since then, Artgig's capabilities and portfolio have expanded to include mainstream websites using open source and proprietary CMS platforms, games, enterprise web tools, mobile applications, our own continuing education LMS platform, and Educational apps available in the App Store-developed under the Artgig Apps brand. Notable Artgig clients include: John F. Kennedy Library, Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Kaplan K12 Learning, Turtle Pond Publications, and other educational publishers and institutions. Cutout Fighter 1.5 - Retro, Arcade, Paper Game - Free for Limited Time

Vilnius,  LT   Apr 24, 2012 in Games
[prMac.com] Vilnius, Lithuania - Eligo Games today is pleased to introduce Cutout Fighter 1.5 for iOS, which is available for free Limited Time. It is a Retro style game based on a fast-paced 2D fighter game engine utilizing pixelated-style graphics with blood free paper effects and mini games inside of it. Set in a world where everything, including the characters, is made out of paper, players must fight their way through levels of opponents to reach, battle and destroy the paper-consuming nemesis, The Black Hole. With the survival of Paper World on the line, players must cut, slash, tear and dissolve opponents, to reach the powerful boss and win the game.

"Cutout Fighter is the 2D casual fighting game you've been waiting for," stated Eligo Games' CEO Pavel Laurs. "Created for gamers by gamers, available free for a limited time and injected with mini games, Cutout Fighter throws you into Paper World, where you'll have to build your skill to feel free to leave."

Cutout Fighter's imaginative storyline blurs the line between game and reality. Set in Pixel Universe's Paper World, in the depths of the Game Designer's mind, the peaceful cutout paper inhabitants must battle a vengeful creature created and discarded by the Game Designer. This creature, The Black Hole, wants to destroy all of the paper inhabitants of Paper World. To save their world, the paper characters must fight other paper characters to advance levels and to destroy the Black Hole.

Choosing from seven characters and seven battle settings, players battle with kicks, punches, jumps, and specialized moves like cuts, tears, and dissolves, to defeat opponents. Much more than a simple push button fighter, Cutout Fighter players have special Paper Overdrive challenges, where they compete against the clock to employ specialized fighting moves.

Timed Paper Overdrives are divided into four categories according to the type of damage they inflict: Cut, Tear, Dissolve, and Cremate. In Cut Paper Overdrives, players must accomplish tasks such as using finger swipes to trace slash lines and inflict damage on competitors. In Tear Paper Overdrives, player tasks include trying to beat the clock in tearing limbs from opponents using ropes and gears. In Dissolve Paper Overdrives, players complete timed tasks such as filling test tubes with the correct potion formula to dissolve an opponent. In the Cremate Paper Overdrive, players must construct a flamethrower before time runs out, to incinerate their opponent.

With over 1,500 hand-drawn images, an 8-bit music soundtrack, and more than 200 sound effects, Cutout Fighter is 2D gaming art. Cutout Fighter's cartoon characters feature animated paper effects and avoid the bloody animation of many 2D Fighter games. Players choose from seven characters, seven unique game locations, Tournament or Single Game play mode, and three levels of difficulty in this highly customizable, fast and dynamic arcade style game.

Cutout Fighter features many fun-to-unlock upgrades for characters and settings. Upgradable characters have abilities that increase the game challenges and fun. Upgradable and standard game settings include Paper City, Hospital, Secret Garden, Dream World, Savannah, Secret Base, and Beta Ground. Changeable settings and characters make this a dynamic game that players will enjoy. Players may play a quick game for a few minutes or an extended hours-long, skill-perfecting marathon.

Feature Highlights:
* Fast and fun game
* Retro, artistic pixelated graphics style
* Animated paper effects, instead of blood
* 1500+ hand-drawn, handcrafted images
* 200+ stunning sound effects
* Choose from 7 characters, including 2 secret characters

* Unleash 4 Deadly Paper Overdrives, killing opponent instantly
* Classic, arcade style fighting control system
* Choose from Single or Tournament game modes

Pictures Mania HD 3 for Retina iPad: New, Free, Spot the Difference Game

Shanghai,  CN   Apr 23, 2012

[prMac.com] Shanghai, China - Racoon Digital Technology today is pleased to announce Pictures Mania HD 3 v1.0.1 free for iPad, their newest spot the difference Game, which includes 70 levels, 3 modes of play, and Retina display support on the New iPad. Currently one of the Top 3 Family Games in China, it features pairs of beautiful, still life photos from everyday life in China. For one or 2 players, puzzle fans have just 2 minutes to spot all 5 differences between the photos, touching them as fast as possible to score points and avoiding errors that cost 10 seconds. The challenging game offers three modes of play: Arcade, Challenge, and Versus, and includes Magical Magnifiers for hints plus optional, in-app purchases.

With a sophisticated scoring system that awards points based on both difficulty and time expended, Pictures Mania HD is not an ordinary spot the difference game. The still life, HD photos are all expertly composed and lit, and the differences are not easily noticed. Most enjoyable of all are the unusual photographs themselves, unusual only in that they are from everyday life in China, rather than the typical photos that picture scenes from life in the U.S. Still life photos of meals, cooking, desk tops, vegetables, flowers, money, puppets, etc. are distinctly Chinese photos, and studying them carefully, searching for the differences between the side-by-side photos, also reveals the fascinating differences between them and their American counterparts.

In Arcade mode, the player has 2 minutes to find all 5 differences and errors result in a 10 second penalty. The faster they are found, the more points each difference scores. A Magical Magnifier, which reveals one difference yet to be discovered, can be used to complete a level if necessary, but there are a limited number available. In Challenge mode, time remaining after finishing a level determines the amount of time available on the next level. In addition, in this mode one photo may be flipped, with left/right relationships reversed. Animated Trouble Balloons may appear, obscuring the photos, and the player must use precious time to drag them out of the way. The Versus mode is a competition game between two players. The player finding the most differences at any level scores a win, and the first player to score three wins is the winner of the game.

Feature Highlights:
* Retina display support for the New iPad
* HD display support for iPad 1 and 2
* 70 super-high-quality levels included
* Three interesting game modes: Arcade, Challenge and Versus
* Brand new game play in Challenge mode

Award-winning developer releases Trunky Fish Game for iPad/iPhone

Copenhagen,  DK   Apr 20, 2012

[prMac.com] Copenhagen, Denmark - Do you want a unique new game for your children to play on their iPad or iPhone? From the makers of Trunky Learns Letters, in the top 10 list of educational games in over 10 countries around the world, including the US, and countries around Scandinavia and the Middle East, comes the latest game: Trunky Fishing Game!

Remember that fishing game toy we all played as kids? It was first made by the McLoughlin Brothers back in 1890. Many generations later, that toy is still going strong! Now, we have brought it to iPads and iPhones so you can share it with your children.

We have seen the excitement in children's eyes as they played the Trunky Fish Game. They used all possible limbs and toes to drag the fish into their buckets! Not only is there a fun fishing mode, but also an educational mode where the player hunts for the right letter, number or color.

To ensure the game is not too easy, there are some fun challenges. The clock is ticking! You must catch all the fish before your time runs out. Also, you need to time your fish capture with the gaping mouth of the fish! If the fish is not ready to be caught, you will scare it away and have to wait to finish the challenge! If that's not enough, then you can spin the pond to make the fish even harder to catch.

What's really neat about this game, is that you can even play it with a friend in the two player mode. Experience tells us, though, that soon, the whole family will be joining in and playing the game!

The idea for Trunky started years ago with an ambition to develop fun learning games to educate young children in an engaging way. The award-winning team's vision was nurtured by years of experience making games for teachers, parents and kids with powerful learning and educational content. Do watch out for more games coming your way!

Supported Languages:
* US English, German, Arabic, Swedish and Danish (Dutch, French and Russian follows soon)

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 3.1.3 or later
* 41.5 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Trunky Fishing Game 1.0 is $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category.

iOS Puzzle Game Arabian Tiles Inspired By Android lock screen Released

Brisbane,  AU   Apr 12, 2012

[prMac.com] Brisbane, Australia - Webback Services, an Australian-based technology company has announced that Version 2.0 of iOS puzzle game Arabian Tiles, inspired by the Android secret pattern-based lock screen has released on the app store.

"There is a clear fascination with the android lock screen among some iOS users, with fake android lock screen apps appearing on the top charts of many iOS stores. As a former Android user, one of the funnest parts of the OS was the lock-screen. So I thought, why not make it even funner and make it an actual game." a Webback Services developer described.

The purpose of the game is to link together colours, similar to how you would unlock an android phone by dragging across the screen to form your secret pattern. Of course, the developers have added other elements such as combos, chains, and power-ups. This combination has created a highly addictive game.

The company also is also going against the trend of in-app purchases. The game does have a store, however the items in the store can only be bought with in-game currency, which are golden coins earned while playing the game.

"The current trend of in-app purchases is getting out of hand. Consumers should not be supporting games that want you to spend $1.99 to get a single virtual weapon."

Version 2.0 of the App has the following updates:
* Added a new level with an 8-bit theme
* Added 4 more tracks to the soundtrack
* Added a new power: pixels!
* Chain System added rewarding speed play
* Levels added in Arcade Mode. Higher levels increase the drop rate of coins, but the difficulty increases
* Cleaned up gameplay interface
* Fixed bugs

Pricing and Availability:
Arabian Tiles 2.0 is available for $0.99 USD from the App Store in the Arcade and Puzzle Game categories. The game supports the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
