[prMac.com] Janghang, South Korea - Barunson Creative, an established mobile games and applications developer, is excited today to announce the recent launch of AquaVillage in the App Store. Compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and ipod touch, this wildly entertaining game represents a unique new leisurely strategic experience with a social twist. AquaVillage gives mobile gamers the chance to raise a flock of beautiful digital fish while simultaneously building up their underwater kingdom! Fully Facebook enabled, this game offers an expansive array of unlockable fish and buildings to collect, personal adventures to overcome, and if you get enough friends playing, you can even visit their AquaVillage empires too! The only thing gamers need to get started building up their underwater village is some enthusiasm and a Facebook profile. Gamers are free to collect and sustain over two hundred unique fish and sea creatures and work their way up the AquaVillage's economic food chain to acquire up to ninety different underwater structures while building their kingdom!

The premise of AquaVillage is simple. Players stumble upon the last place to build an aquatic town left on the seafloor and it up to them to make sure it's the best darn sea village in the ocean! Since this is a social networking game at heart gamers are encouraged to invite their Facebook friends to play and tour one another's sea bound metropolises as they keep growing and growing! As an added bonus the more players interact with their friends the more chances they'll have to net a wide variety of unique socially unlocked rewards and rare new fish species to populate their own towns.

Furthermore, if players want to experience the full narrative of this unique gaming adventure there are over two hundred personal quests to venture through in the game as one of four unique main characters. To boot, all quests are hosted and presented by Lena, the Goddess of the sea. Tweetstreams 1.1 for iOS: Real-Time, Customizable Twitter Client/Monitor

Jersey,  GB   May 28, 2012

[prMac.com] Jersey, United Kingdom - Independent developer Juye Symons today is pleased to announce Tweetstreams 1.1 for iOS, his advanced, customizable, real-time Twitter client/monitor that allows the user to establish full control over all incoming tweets. Featuring an uncluttered, minimalist interface, the app includes various filtering options that allow real-time monitoring of brands, keywords, current trends, individual accounts, groups of people and more. The app supports all existing Twitter accounts and enables adjustment of the speed of streams, which is particularly valuable when monitoring busy topics.

Feature Highlights:
* Real-time monitoring of multiple topics on Twitter
* Create Tweetstreams by Keyword, Trend, or People
* Filter Tweetstreams by English only and/or minimum followers
* Control the speed of incoming tweets
* Simple, attractive interface

With the Twitter explosion and the social service's incorporation directly into iOS 5, there have been more and more Twitter apps offering a variety of features. Tweetstreams' special niche is real-time monitoring of multiple topics. At launch, the app invites the user to create one of three different types of streams, based on Keywords, Trends (by country), or People.

For example, the app advises, "Enter the keywords you want to track. Use commas to separate your keywords if you want to match any keyword, or use spaces to separate keywords if you want to match all keywords." Once created, each topic in each of the three types of streams becomes a Tweetstream. The names of the Tweetstreams appear in the upper tab bar as the tweets begin scrolling down.

Extremely helpful in real-time monitoring of multiple topics, is the ability to set the app to display only English language tweets, and the continuously variable controls in Settings. The familiar blue slider, identical with those used in the Preferences in iOS 5, allows the user to control the speed of the incoming Tweetstream from very slow to very fast. At any setting, the tweets per minute will increase with the number of topics being monitored. Similarly, a slider control permits users to limit incoming tweets to those who have a following of more than one million or any number below.

"Tweetstreams is ideal for real-time monitoring of brands, keywords, current trends, individual accounts, groups of people and more," stated independent developer Juye Symons. "You can even monitor Tweetstreams that represent the intersection of multiple search terms, such as "iPad - London - Medicine."

Device Requirements:
* iPhone 3GS/4/4S, iPod touch (3rd/4th generation), and iPad 1/2/3
* Requires iOS 5.0 or later
* 0.6 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Tweetstreams 1.1 is $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Social Networking category. Review copies are available on request.

QuoteMaker Pro 2.1 for iPad: Customized Sales Proposals and Price Quotes

Sicklerville, NJ    May 24, 2012

[prMac.com] Sicklerville, New Jersey - Independent developer Steve Weintraut today is pleased to announce QuoteMaker Pro 2.1 for iPad, an update to his best-selling business app, which allows users to easily create customized sales proposals and price quotes. Featuring both cost-plus and list-minus sell price computations, sales professionals can mix and match pricing methods on a product-by-product basis. QuoteMaker Pro 2.1 also provides highly customizable control over the appearance of the sales quote itself. This update offers optional PDF Attachment Support, Multiple Currency Calculations, and Advanced Excel and XML Export.

QuoteMaker Pro 2.1 for iPad makes the process of generating an accurate, professional-looking quote easy and enjoyable. Initial setup of the app consists of filling in all the empty text fields in Preferences, e.g., Company Name, Header Text, Footer Text, Default Tax Rate, Default Shipping Charge, Global Margin Type (Default, Cost Plus, List Minus), etc. Setup is completed by importing or entering items into the editable Product Database, which serves as the library containing all the products or services available.

Feature Highlights:

* Drag and drop sales quote creation on the iPad
* Built-in, user-definable, Product Database holds items and pricing
* Easily drag to arrange items in a quote by Line item or Category
* Set markups using cost-plus or list-minus sell price computations by Quote, Line item, or Category
* New 2.1 update offers optional attached PDF versions of the quote when emailed
* New 2.1 update provides optional Multiple Currency Calculations and text display
* New 2.1 update supports optional Advanced Excel and XML Export

QuoteMaker Pro has the ability to import data from external sources via tab delimited or comma delimited files. Even if the file is not in the proper order, QuoteMaker Pro allows the user to drag and drop the import order of any compatible file, and also lets them choose which fields are imported. Files can be imported via iTunes running on the user's desktop machine, via their Dropbox account, or by opening a file attached to an email from their iPad's email client. They can even choose to let QuoteMaker Pro use the file to update their existing price list based on matching product numbers.

Besides accessing the app's built-in product database, Quotes can be further modified using the app's powerful Grab, Duplicate and Rearrange functions. Grab allows users to copy a group of items (a Category) from a pre-existing quote, while Duplicate performs a straight copy of an entire quote. Rearrange allows users to both delete items or alter the order of appearance of items in the quote. Users can drag and drop both Line items and entire Categories of items. This allows sales professionals to format their quote so that it makes the most sense to the customer. Quotes can be output to a printer or sent via email.

Margins in QMPro are very powerful, and this function can be configured for cost-plus or list-minus margins. Users can easily adjust the margin on a Quote level (global), Category level, or individual Line item level. The app also lets users add items to a quote as an Optional item. This will show the item on the proposal, but clearly display it as an Optional item that is not included as part of the total price. This allows the user to quote a customer on a specific item, but also give them other choices if they would like to upgrade that particular component to something better.

The 2.1 version of QMPro extends its core functionality by adding new, optional data sharing and internationalization features, which are available via an in-app purchase. Users now have the option to share data via email or Dropbox. In addition, quotes can now be sent back and forth in the app's own native format. Or for those who need to communicate with other systems or non-iPad users, QMPro can export data in CSV, Excel, or even XML formats for import into a company's central business, CRM, or ERP system.

QMPro also includes a number of optional new features to help users who sell internationally. An optional exchange rate can now be specified to adjust for working in foreign currencies, and prices can be displayed in a wide variety of different monetary formats. Printed and emailed versions of quotes can also be displayed in Standard English, or optional French, Italian, or German formats. emailed versions can also be sent as either an HTML formatted email, an attached PDF, or both at the same time.

"QuoteMaker Pro is a powerful tool for anyone involved in a wide variety of sales related professions," stated independent developer Steve Weintraut. "QuoteMaker Pro gives the user precise control over the appearance of their sales quotation as well as finely tuned control over the profit margin for each individual item on the proposal."

Device Requirements:

* Compatible with iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 15.4 MB

Pricing and Availability:

QuoteMaker Pro 2.1 is $4.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Business category. Review copies are available on request. Additional features are available as an in-app purchase.

Smart Apps 4 Kids Release New Educational App - Rhyme-N-Time for iPad

Huntington Beach, CA    May 24, 2012

[prMac.com] Huntington Beach, California - Smart Apps 4 Kids announced the immediate availability of its new app called Rhyme-N-Time. The app, created for the iPad, combines a rhyming storybook and charming game wrapped in an educational learning tool. Rhyme-N-Time keeps track of how the child is performing with various statistics as they move throughout the game. The app allows the child to see uppercase or lowercase letters, plus the ability to use images and words or just the word for clues when trying to match rhyming words.

The educational app revolves around Jane and Blayne, who are twins, on a quest to find words that rhyme. There are four action screens and each one has a different task to complete based on finding rhyming or non-rhyming words. There are hundreds of different words used so repetition is not an issue. Rhyme-N-Time also is sprinkled with positive messages like "always eat your vegetables" and "don't talk to strangers". The goal is to collect enough coins for Jane and Blayne to buy a golden chain and great dane for their upcoming birthday.

Rhyme-N-Time comes without a lot of the features that concern parents when purchasing apps for their children. There is no data collection, ads, IAP (In-App Purchases), social media tie ins or links to other websites. Smart Apps 4 Kids wants to make sure parents feel comfortable about what they are getting and what they are not, when they acquire an app for their child. There are no "gotcha" events or annoying pop ups in this app.

"The most challenging part of creating educational apps is making them entertaining and a great learning tool for the kids. We think we have accomplished that in Rhyme-N-Time," says owner and creator Scott Kibby. The objective of Smart Apps 4 Kids inspiring apps is to help educate a child no matter how big or small while having fun in the process.

Device Requirements:

* Compatible with iPad
* Requires iOS 3.2 or later
* 21.9 MB

Pricing and Availability:

Rhyme-N-Time 1.0 is $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Education category.

Sprite Cutter Brings Game-Sprite and Online-Avatar Creation to the iPad

Salt Lake City, UT    May 17, 2012

[prMac.com] Salt Lake City, Utah - PixelSplincher is excited to announce Sprite Cutter, an iPad app for cutting out faces, pets, or any other shape from photos. Users of FaceBook, Twitter and most blog and forum websites will rejoice over a quick way to make avatars with any shape over a transparent background. The cutout sprites are great for social networking avatars or custom compositions and animations. The 32-bit PNG format images preserve the mask you draw, letting apps from web browsers to paint or animation programs mask out the unwanted pixels. Industry-standard Bezier curves give intuitive yet powerful control over the sprite outline. iPad owners just pick a photo, tap around a target to quickly lay down a rough curve, then fine tune the points and adjust the curve shape by dragging the control handles.

Features:
* Cut multiple sprites from a single image, save separated or as a single picture
* Save sprites as 32-bit PNG images with lossless compression
* Inline help: documentation with no internet connection needed
* Undo-redo: hey, nobody's perfect
* Optionally rescale sprites on export to fit standard 64x64, 128x128, or 256x256 resolutions
* Nudge position and scale of shape for quick adjustments to the whole shape
* Double-tap on any curve point to quickly smooth the curve
* Insert and remove points with a touch
* Save and reload curves

About Sprites:
Not just a magical creature or atmospheric phenomenon, a sprite is a small image, stored with transparency information (called an 'alpha channel') which hides the portions of the image you don't want to see. Sprite Cutter uses standard 32-bit RGBA PNG format to save images with lossless compression, and an 8-bit antialiased alpha channel. This makes the sprites compatible with web browsers and virtually all apps which work with pictures.

Device Requirements:
* Compatible with iPad
* Requires iOS 5.0 or later
* 18.4 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Sprite Cutter 1.0.0 is $2.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Photo & Video category. Review copies, screen shots available upon request.

PlayBC - Interactive Alphabet is now available on iPad and iPhone

Somerville, MA    May 17, 2012

[prMac.com] Kaliningrad, Russian Federation - PlayBC is a brand new alphabet app for kids that is both fun and effective. It is developed by an independent game designer Andrew Shapuro, a co-founder of ThunderStorm Games. The app is available on iPad and iPhone. Colorful graphics and clever mini-games provide hours of edutainment at its best. The app can be used as a game as well as an effective learning tool. Children can play it alone or study together with their parents.

The app itself is an interactive book filled with various objects and creatures. Each letter-panel invites children to play with what they see on the screen. When kids tap or slide the ball it jumps and bounces. When they touch a kitten it purrs or plays with a ball. If they tap the snail it hides in its shell and waits for some time just like a real one. Plains fly, animals make funny sounds and volcanoes erupt when kids tap, slide or tilt the device.

Objects on the screen encourage children to experiment. Everything they see can be interacted with in different ways. Every new panel starts with the pronunciation of the letter and the word shown in the picture. The voice-over is done by a speech professional so it is clear and easy to repeat. Navigation through the app is simple and toddler-friendly. There are only 4 big buttons that even small children can't miss. After kids familiarize with the alphabet there are several ways to test their knowledge in the form of quiz games. The graphics of PlayBC is full of bright colors, smooth animations and real world physics while sound effects are cute and fun.

"The development team behind PlayBC believes that education and entertainment should go hand in hand. Our test groups show that children enjoy playing PlayBC a lot. They learn the alphabet fast having fun along the way. With the worldwide release of our product we hope that even more little users will be able to learn the ABCs while interacting with our app." said Andrew Shapuro, designer of PlayBC.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 47.7 MB

Pricing and Availability:
PlayBC 1.0 is $2.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Education category.

iCals: iPhone iPad: Find Food Serving Calorie Content Based on USDA DB

Revere, MA    May 17, 2012
[prMac.com] Revere, Massachusetts - Revere, Massachusetts - Indie developer James Hollender has announced iCals - iNutrients: Calories 3.0 for iOS, a major update to his Healty & Fitness app that lists the calorie content of more than 1,100 different foods. Broken down into seven Categories or as a complete, alphabetical list with search function, users can lookup and record their daily intake of calories. Each listing includes eight pertinent facts about the food, and this 3.0 update allows users to create custom serving sizes for any item. The new version is now a Universal app that allows for keeping track of personal caloric intake and the ability to backup and restore the personal information.

The iCals app provides information about foods and how they are rated for caloric content. The following colors help readily identify which is which:

* Black = Rated extremely high in Calories (500 - 1,181)
* Dark Red = Rated very high in Calories (400 - 499)
* Red = Rated high in Calories (300 - 399)
* Orange = Rated moderately high in Calories (250 - 299)
* Yellow = Rated moderate in Calories (200 - 249)
* Light Green = Rated moderately low in Calories (150 - 199)
* Green = Rated low in Calories (100 - 149)
* Cyan = Rated very low in Calories (50 - 99)

There are eight tables listing foods:

* All Foods (includes search capability)
* Fast Foods
* Fruits & Vegetables
* Meat, Fish & Shellfish
* Dairy & Egg
* Cereal Grains & Pasta
* Sweets
* Snacks

The app offers three different kinds of lookup: Search, Alphabetical, or Category. Users can enter any search term to query the database's 1,100 entries (some entries have multiple names). Alphabetical searches of the complete list is simplified through a thumb index, which opens any letter of the alphabet immediately. Finally, users can search alphabetically through any of seven category listings:

* Fast Foods
* Fruits & Vegetables
* Meat, Fish & Shellfish
* Dairy & Eggs
* Cereal Grains & Pasta
* Sweets
* Snacks

The database is truly encyclopedic. For example, looking up "Milk" brings up more than 35 different listings.
Feature Highlights:
* Lookup, customize, and record daily carbohydrate intake
* Comprehensive database of foods based on the USDA National Nutrient Database
* Lookup by Search, Category, or Alphabetical
* More than 1,100 foods listed from more than 2,500 searchable names
* Includes listings for Fast Foods

Selecting an item in any of the tables will display pertinent information about the selected food serving:

* Food Title
* Weight in grams
* Common Measure, e.g., 1/2 cup, etc.
* Calories
* Color coding for quick identification of caloric content range
* USDA Description
* USDA Food Group
* USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference ID

Touching the Record button on the top right to add an item to the user's daily food intake, the calorie watcher can specify a serving size between .1 and 9.9 times the standard serving. New in version 3.0 of iCals is the ability to create custom serving sizes between 1 and 500 grams in 0.1 gram increments. Users can easily dial in the exact serving size using a slider and buttons for extra fine control of their selection. With the serving size adjusted, users just touch the Record button in the top right to have the revised entry added to their daily intake.

Records of servings are kept for a full year before being automatically deleted from the database. Recorded servings can be edited to change the date or number of servings. They can also be deleted if necessary.

Information is derived from the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference: Energy (kcal) Content of Selected Foods per Common Measure. There are currently over 1,100 different food servings included, searchable using approximately 2,500 names (some foods are known by different names or how they are prepared, e.g., "Egg, Scrambled" and "Scrambled Egg"). A few of these have as many as six searchable names. The Info page provides additional information about Saturated Fat:

* What are Calories? - Wikipedia(R) definition

* Calorie Recommendations - Provides information for different groups, e.g., Sedentary women, older adults, children, teenage girls, active men, etc.; plus the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans

* Highest Calorie Foods - Lists 28 different foods containing the highest amounts of Calories

* How to Use this App - Shows detailed information about how to record the user's personal nutrient intake of Calories, how to make changes to what the user has recorded, how to backup and restore the data

New Middle School Science App for iPad, iPhone, and iPod

Longmont, CO    May 16, 2012

[prMac.com] Longmont, Colorado - Monkey in the Middle Apps announced the launch of their new educational game, Middle School Science 8th Grade, which is available now from the App Store. While flying a monkey through space and avoiding asteroids, students answer questions on middle school science topics. Joining the existing Middle School Math 7th Grade and Middle School Vocab 7th Grade apps, Middle School Science 8th Grade help fills the "app gap" for middle school (junior high) students.

Fun for Students:
"Middle school science is when students start to learn how the world works - from atoms and cells, to planets and galaxies, and everything in between." explained Andrew Meier, co-founder and CTO. "It's fascinating and I want students to be successful and continue taking science in high school and college."

Designed for Teachers:
While it's fun for students, this app has been designed for teachers. Teachers can track progress for an entire classroom using either score emails or web based reports. The topics have been carefully chosen to match common textbooks and core standards. Each quiz also includes review notes and links to online tutorials and videos.

Prepare for 8th Grade Science testing:
In the spring of 8th grade, all students in the United States take a standardized science test. Because this test covers topics learned over the three years of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, it is especially helpful to review. The free app includes four quizzes: Matter, Geology, Astronomy, and Weather. The Pro version adds quizzes on Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Experimental Method, Periodic Table, and Energy.

Pricing and Availability:
Middle School Science 8th Grade works on all versions of iPad(R), iPhone(R), and iPod touch(R). It is free and is available now from the App Store. Middle School Science Pro 8th Grade is also available now from the App Store for 99 cents. A 50% educational discount is available through the Apple Volume Purchasing Program for Education.

Based in Colorado, Monkey in the Middle Apps builds educational games for middle school students. Founded in the fall of 2011, their Math and Vocab apps have been used in dozens of classrooms, have been downloaded more than 60 thousand times, and have received over 100 five star reviews in the App Store.
